EUROVISION SONG CONTEST
ALL THE WINNING COUNTRIES
A look back at every country that has won the Eurovision Song Contest in chronological order.
1986
BELGIUM
Three decades after the first Eurovision Song Contest, the last of the 7 founding participants finally scored a win. Belgium remains one of the most frequent competitors. To date, it has only missed 3 Contests.
Its sole victory was with a song sung in French by the teen Sandra Kim. “J’aime la vie” is (to date) the penultimate winner performed in that language. Kim’s participation sparked controversy regarding her eligibility. It was later revealed that she was younger than had been claimed. An age restriction was introduced in the wake of the 13 year old's entry. Today, performers must be at least 16 years of age.
