Norway first competed at Eurovision in 1960. Since then, it has only missed 2 Contests. The long wait for a Norwegian triumph came to an end in 1985 with the bouncy “La det swinge”. Performed by Bobbysocks!, the entry was composed by Rolf Løvland. The song was performed in Norwegian.

Norway’s second winning entry was also sung in that language. Løvland was involved in its composition too. “Nocturne”, performed by Secret Garden in 1995, featured few lyrics but this did not repel votes.

A third Norwegian win was accomplished in 2009 with the popular “Fairytale”. Alexander Rybak and his trusty violin easily stormed ahead of the competition in host city Moscow.
