The Fins certainly shook up the Eurovision Song Contest when Finland staked its first victory in 2006. After making its debut in 1961, the country had to wait decades before emerging triumphant on the Eurovision stage.

In Athens, Lordi stormed to victory with the metal-flavoured “Hard Rock Hallelujah”. As a result of the win, the 2007 Contest was held in Finland’s capital city. This remains the only Finnish win thus far.
