 THE 100 ESSENTIAL SONGS BY

DONNA SUMMER

Donna Summer was astute enough to sense that disco’s appeal with the public was waning. She realized a new musical direction was needed. A new deal was signed with Geffen Records. The result was the 1980 album ‘The Wanderer’, which spawned a #3 hit single with the title track.

55 THE HOSTAGE

Released while still based in Germany, “The Hostage” was Donna’s first chart hit, reaching #2 in the Netherlands in 1974.

54 TRY ME, I KNOW WE CAN MAKE IT

Lifted off the ‘A Love Trilogy’ album, “Try Me I Know We Can Make It” became Donna’s second US Disco Chart #1.

53 SAY SOMETHING NICE

As well as helming albums by Donna (including 'Once Upon A Time'), Giorgio Moroder received an Oscar for his score featured in the 1978 film ‘Midnight Express’.

52 I REMEMBER YESTERDAY

The title track from Donna’s fifth studio album helped it become her highest charting LP in the UK to date.
