CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

Mid-week bonus: #622- 620
#622 SHE'S NOT THERE The Zombies
The Zombies formed in England in 1962. They only lasted 5 years before disbanding, but managed to release some impressive recordings; the best known being "She's Not There". The group's keyboardist Rod Argent wrote the song. In 1964, the single became their breakthrough hit, peaking at #12 at home, but reaching 11 in Australia and #2 in the US and Canada.
Timing was on the group's side; British groups were de rigueur in the mid-60s and The Zombies capitalized. "Tell Her No" reached #6 later that year and they even scored a #3 hit with "Time of the Season" in 1969, 2 years after they had split.
Argent went on to form his own band after The Zombies' demise. The group Argent released the rock anthem "Hold Your Head Up". He has since played with various other musicians and recorded solo material. Lead singer Colin Blunstone quit music for a time before launching a solo career in the 70s. Chris White, The Zombies' other songwriter, continued to pen songs for other acts; at times co-writing with Argent.
In 1977, Santana reached #27 with a remake of "She's Not There". In 1990, Crowded House recorded a cover for 'The Crossing' movie soundtrack. Argent joined Ringo Starr on stage to sing the song for his 'Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band' album, issued in 2008.

#621 THE CHAIN Fleetwood Mac
The 'Rumours' album contained many strong tracks of a superior quality. No less than 5 of its tracks are included on this listing. The album consists of material written by its 3 songwriters: Lindsey Buckingham (3); Stevie Nicks (3) and Christine McVie (4). "The Chain" is the 1 track which is credited to all 5 of its members.

#620 THE EDGE OF HEAVEN Wham!
"The Edge of Heaven" was released as a farewell single from the pop duo Wham! Members George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley were to go separate ways. The song was written by the former and he also handled production. Elton John played piano on the recording. Released in 1985, the single reached #1 in the UK, Ireland, Belgium and The Netherlands. In Australia and Norway, it peaked at #2. "Edge..." also climbed to the top 10 in other European countries, New Zealand and the US.
