CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#625 THE ONE THING INXS
On "The One Thing" there is an obvious progression in the INXS sound. The song is the lead track on  'Shabooh Shoobah', their 3rd album, issued in 1983. Mark Opitz produced the LP. "The One Thing" is a great example of 80s pop: an energetic song with a full sound consisting of keyboards, sax and guitar. The added edge is the exuberant vocal from Michael Hutchence. The latter co-wrote the song with Andrew Farris.
INXS finally cracked the US chart with this hit, which also became their first chart entry in Canada. In their native Australia, the band scored a #15 single. Greater commercial success would follow with their next album, 'The Swing' in 1984.
