In 1990, a new TV series began in the USA. "Beverly Hills 90210" became a hit all over the world and made stars of several cast members. A soundtrack was released in 1992 which featured performers such as Jeremy Jordan, Shanice, Paula Abdul, Chaka Khan, Michael McDonald, Cathy Dennis and Color Me Badd. "Love Is" was the hit duet lifted off the album, recorded by Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight. Both R&B singers co-produced the track with Gerry Brown. Written by Toniio K and John Keller, it was issued as a single in 1993. In America, the duet peaked at #3 Pop and 1 Adult Contemporary. It reached #3 in Canada and also charted in Australia.
The TV series aired until 2000. There were 2 spin-offs from the long-running show: "Melrose Place" and "Models Inc." It was revived in 2008 as simply "90210" with new characters and some original cast members returning to reprise their roles. The television series was finally axed in 2013.
