#633ROCK AND ROLL DREAMS COME THROUGH Jim Steinman
Jim Steinman wrote some major hits for a diverse array of artists: "Total Eclipse of the Heart" for Bonnie Tyler; "You Took the Words Right Out of my Mouth" by Meat Loaf; Barry Manilow's "Read 'em and Weep"; "Left in the Dark" from Barbra Streisand; Celine Dion's "It's all Coming Back to me Now" and the Air Supply hit "Making Love Out of Nothing at All".
Following the phenomenal success of Meat Loaf's 'Bat Out of Hell' LP -for which Steinman wrote all of the tracks- the producer decided to record his own solo album. 'Bad For Good' was issued in 1981. That release included the hit single "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through". Rory Dodd sings the lead vocal. The track echoes Phil Spector's Wall of Sound.
The single fared well in Australia, where it climbed into the Top 20. Steinman and Meat Loaf would not work again until 1993, when they teamed up for 'Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell'. That album included Meat Loaf's version of the song.
