TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#631 I'M A BELIEVER The Monkees
Neil Diamond did an exquisite job when he penned "I'm a Believer". It is 1 of the catchiest pop songs of the 1960s. Little wonder then, that it was a #1 hit in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada and Europe. Diamond expected the song to be offered to country singer Eddy Arnold. It was suggested to The Monkees instead. Group member Mike Nesmith disliked the song. Jeff Barry was entrusted with producing its recording. Mickey Dolenz sings the lead vocal. The song remains a perennial favourite to this day.
