Checker
Chubby Checker released a cover of "The Twist" in 1960 and watched it fly to #1 in the USA that year and return for a 2nd chart run (and more time at the top) in 1962. His hit sparked a dance craze and a string of follow-up singles about other dances. Checker's "The Twist" and "Let's Twist Again" proved a dance song could sell in the millions.
