10 years after its debut at Eurovision, the UK finally tasted victory in Vienna during 1967. Sandie Shaw, a British pop star, performed "Puppet On A String" barefoot and easily achieved the best score for the evening. The single went on to chart well in Europe. Another well known Eurovision classic hit song was "L'Amour Est Bleu", which finished in 4th place for Vicky Leandros representing Luxembourg.
Following Shaw's triumph, countless imitations were performed in subsequent years. The ESC was now a high rating annual event on European TV. The following year, Eurovision was broadcast in colour for the first time.
