CARLA/ ETUDE

Album: The Fox
Being an instrumental medley, this is one of the rare tracks composed by Elton John without a collaborator. In its original form, it also included "Fanfare" (an instrumental John wrote with James Newton Howard) and the vocal coda "Chloe". The "Carla / Etude" edit listed here is the 1987 version from the 1990-1 'To Be Continued' box set, recorded live in Sydney with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

The strings and French horn featured on "Latitude" were arranged and conducted by the legendary George Martin. It was a song written by Elton with Bernie Taupin.

'Too Low For Zero' was the first album wholly composed by Elton with lyricist Bernie Taupin since 1976. It was a quality reunion project, yielding several hit singles and many significant album tracks. "One More Arrow" is a ballad with strings conducted and arranged by James Newton Howard.

Album: The Complete Thom Bell Sessions [E.P.]
In 1979, Elton released an E.P. entitled 'The Thom Bell Sessions' where he recorded songs with one of the key figures of the lush Phillie Sound: Thom Bell. The E.P. was repackaged 10 years later as 'The Complete Thom Bell Sessions', containing 3 previously unreleased tracks: "Nice And Slow", "Country Love Song" and "Shine On Through". The former was penned by Elton with Taupin and Bell.

"Crystal" was issued as a double A-sided single with "Cold As Christmas". Chris Thomas produced its parent album 'Too Low For Zero'.

Album: Made In England
Paul Buckmaster reunited with Elton on the 'Made In England' album project. The classically trained musician had already cut his teeth on classics such as David Bowie's "Space Oddity", The Rolling Stones' 'Sticky Fingers' and Carly Simon's "You're So Vain". The orchestra heard on 4 tracks (including "Belfast") was arranged and conducted by him. Elton penned the song with Taupin.

ELECTRICITY

Album: Billy Elliot The Musical (Cast Album)
Elton teamed up with lyricist Lee Hall for the musical adaptation of the 2000 film 'Billy Elliot'. The former produced the track which peaked at #4 on the UK chart. It was later added to the re-packaged 'Peachtree Road' album. Hall wrote the screenplay.

Album: Wonderful Crazy Night
The deluxe edition of 'Wonderful Crazy Night' included the Elton and Taupin bonus track "England And America'. The former handled production of the album with T Bone Burnette.
