5 HOLLAND / DOZIER / HOLLAND

🟢 Motown’s star songwriting / production team of Lamont Dozier and brothers Eddie and Brian Holland made the label influential and helped soul/ R&B crossover to the mainstream white pop audience. They helped develop the legendary ‘Motown Sound’ that dominated the charts and challenged the British Invasion. Although all 3 were involved in the composing, Lamont and Brian were involved for the bulk of the producing duties. They worked on 10 of The Supremes’ US #1 singles, as well as chart-topping discs by The Four Tops and hits for Marvin Gaye, Junior Walker & The All Stars, Isley Brothers, Martha & The Vandellas, Mary Wells and Kim Weston. After departing Motown, the pair produced Freda Payne’s smash “Band Of Gold”.
