A look back at every country that has won the Eurovision Song Contest in chronological order.
1961
LUXEMBOURG
Luxembourg competed in the inaugural Contest in 1956. It claimed its first Eurovision victory in 1961 with the entry “Nous les amoureux”, performed by Jean-Claude Pascal.
The country repeated the feat in 1965 with the first pop song to win: “Poupée de cire, poupée de son”. This radical shift, delivered by France Gall, changed the sound of Eurovision songs.
Luxembourg became the first country to achieve consecutive wins in its own right when it collected the top prize in 1972 for “Après toi” and again the following year with “Tu te reconnaîtras”. These successful entries were performed by Vicky Leandros and Anne-Marie David respectively.
Corrine Hermès represented Luxembourg in 1983 with the winning song “Si la vie est cadeau”, its most recent victory. The nation last competed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993.
