One of the most poignant moments of “Les Miserables” is “Empty Chairs At Empty Tables”. It finds Marius remembering his fallen comrades. Michael Ball portrayed the character in the original West End production back in 1985.

Trivia:

Two years before she scored a global #1 hit duet with Elton John ("Don't Go Breaking My Heart"), Kiki Dee and her band enjoyed her biggest solo single with "I've Got The Music In Me". It was issued on Rocket Records. The label was founded by Elton John. Dee's hit was produced by Gus Dudgeon who also helmed many successful recordings by the legendary pianist.

The Phantom Of The Opera

“All I Ask Of You” is a duet sung by the characters Christine and Raoul. The original cast had Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton in the respective roles. In 1986, the former recorded the song with Cliff Richard and scored a chart hit. The song continues to be one of the most popular songs from “Phantom”.

DEFYING GRAVITY

Wicked

“Wicked” gave a new perspective on the perennial favourite film ‘The Wizard Of Oz’. It deals with the two Witches in Oz: Elphaba and Glinda. The Stephen Schwartz show opened on Broadway in 2003 and proved a consistently popular production. “Defying Gravity” is its highlight song.

DON’T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA

Evita

The musical “Evita” possesses many musical highlights, but “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” overshadows all of them. This mighty showstopper remains one of the standouts in the Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice canon. The epic song is performed by Eva Peron. Julie Covington’s version of the song reached #1 in 1977 in Britain, parts of Europe and in Australia.
