These are all songs created specifically for the stage productions and not theatrical versions of movies or jukebox musicals (eg. “The Lion King”, “Saturday Night Fever” or “Mamma Mia!” and “Jersey Boys”). They’ve touched us or made us cry and some have had us up on our feet dancing in the aisles.

Funny Girl

 Loosely based on the life of Zigfield girl Fanny Brice, this musical made a star of Barbra Streisand. She played the lead role in the original Broadway production in 1964. “People” became her first single to chart, peaking at #5 in the U.S. It remains one of Streisand’s signature songs.
