He met and befriended Andrew Ridgeley while in high school. The two teens were determined to realize their musical ambitions. The two became a duo named Wham! in 1981. In 1986. George began to focus on the next phase of his career: as a soloist. He scored global smash hits duetting with Aretha Franklin and Elton John. Debut solo album ‘Faith’, issued in 1987, spawned no less than 4 US #1 singles. Next was ‘Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1’ dropped in 1990 and a UK No. 1; followed by the chart-topping ‘Older’ in 1996 from which 2 #1 singles were lifted. George entered the new millennium with a duet recorded with Whitney Houston followed in 2004 by the album ‘Patience’. His recording output slowed down, but still managed to produce noteworthy releases such as the ‘Symphonica’ live album and individual tracks sprinkled among this Top 100. On Christmas Day, 2016, George passed away at the age of 53. The cause of death was reported as heart failure. George leaves behind a rich legacy of recordings that dominated pop culture from the 1980s to the present day.     Caffè Lattè presents a tribute to one of pop music’s greatest performers.
