He met and befriended Andrew Ridgeley while in high school. The two teens were determined to realize their musical ambitions. They became a duo named Wham! in 1981. After testing the water with the solo hits “Careless Whisper” and “A Different Corner”, Wham! called it a day in 1986. George began to focus on the next phase of his career: as a soloist. He scored a global smash duetting with Aretha Franklin. His debut solo album ‘Faith’, was issued in 1987.
