JOAN ARMATRADING

In 1950, Joan Armatrading was born on the island of St. Kitts. At the age of 8, she moved to England. In her teens, she began writing songs. Her debut album 'Whatever's For Us' was released in 1972. The self-titled 3rd album became Armatrading's 1st hit. It included her first chart entry "Love And Affection". That single went Top 10 in Britain. She maintained the momentum via singles "Show Some Emotion"and "Rosie". 

Armatrading's audience spread further with the release of 1980's 'Me Myself I' album. 'The Key' consolidated her appeal in 1983 thanks to its singles "Drop The Pilot" and "(I Love It When You) Call Me Names". 

Her most recent album, 'Starlight' was issued in 2013. Armatrading has recorded jazz, blues, folk and pop tracks. She continues performing in her 60s.
