PERFECT DAY
“…Just a perfect day,
you made me forget
myself.
I thought I was someone else,
someone good...”
Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" begins with a promising tone. The piano builds as the lyrics outline a day's pleasant activities: drinking in a park, feeding animals at the zoo and catching a movie. As the verses unravel, the protagonist reveals his displeasure with himself. The song concludes with an ominous sense of gloom: "You're going to reap just what you sow". Reed has built up the intrigue.
The well crafted track appeared on his 'Transformer' album. Issued in 1972, it remains one of Reed's most memorable artistic creations.
As
