 SPIRITS HAVING FLOWN: BEE GEES
[1979]
The Bee Gees had the unenviable task of following up the mega success of the 'Saturday Night Fever' soundtrack. In 1979, the siblings emerged with a new collection of songs which stuck to its lucrative disco sound (the #1 hit "Tragedy") while heading more towards soul / R&B (another chart topper: "Love You Inside Out"). The ballads were there too ("Too Much Heaven" reached #1). The eventual backlash was possibly inevitable. At times, the production is lush and beautiful but sometimes over the top. Highlight tracks: Spirits (Having Flown); Living Together; Love You Inside Out.

Another album featured tomorrow.
