JUST MY IMAGINATION

(RUNNING AWAY WITH ME)

The Temptations

The Number Ones: The Temptations' “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)”

The Temptations evolved as we progressed out of the 1960s and into the 1970s. “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong. The former also produced the track. Eddie Kendricks delivers one of Motown’s sweetest lead vocals. The lyrics create an idyllic scenario until it is revealed that it is all imaginary.
