DIANA ROSS & THE SUPREMES
This hit song may have been credited to the legendary girl group, but Diana Ross was the only Supreme invited to the recording studio. Again, she was backed up by the girl group The Andantes: consisting of Jackie Hicks, Marlene Barrow and Louvain Demps. Unleashed in 1968, the single tackled a serious theme; something Motown’s female acts had previously avoided. The disc became the group’s eleventh US Pop #1 and it reached #2 on the Soul chart.

THE POINTER SISTERS
When first released in 1982, this single fared well in Australia and Sweden but barely dented the US Top 40. Re-issued 2 years later, following the success of “Automatic” and “Jump”, the song reached #9 in America and #11 in the UK. The trio would go on scoring a string of dance hits during the 1980s.
