12 POINTS FROM: Portugal; Germany &Sweden.

No less than 5 countries accumulated 12 points from 3 different countries, but Switzerland beat runner-up United Kingdom by just one vote with the French song “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi”.  This triumph raised the profile of Canadian singer Celine Dion who performed the Swiss entry. While not a great song, it did showcase her potential and vocal skill. Dion went on to record her first English-language album and become one of the best selling female recording acts in the world.
