THE LOST SINGLES
SHOULD-A BEEN HITS
SWEET BABY JAMES
James Taylor
1970
Today, "Sweet Baby James" is a cherished signature song in the James Taylor songbook. It is hard to believe that it failed to chart as a single when issued in 1970. Fortunately, it was the title track of the album that saw his recording career take off. Thia was the LP's lead single. Follow-up release "Fire And Rain" became the singer-songwriter's first hit.
This regular segment looks back on
recordings that deserved to become popular singles but failed to attract
attention and sales. Check the special Caffé Latté playlist on spotify to
finally discover these releases.
