IRELAND – 1994
12 POINTS FROM: Iceland, Croatia, Portugal, Switzerland,
Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Russia.
Ireland dominated Eurovision during the 1990s, even if the
quality of some winners is dubious. This was a forgettable song that most likely
benefited from the rule that entries could only be sung in each country’s
official language. Songs performed in English represent a majority of the
winners. The Contest was held that year in Dublin, following Ireland’s victory
in 1993. This new victory was historical in that it saw Ireland become the first- and thus
far only- country to secure a third consecutive victory.
