CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS
THE TOP 100
#32 I LOVE YOU
DONNA SUMMER
(1977)
Writers: Donna Summer; Giorgio Moroder & Pete Bellotte

By 1977, Donna Summer was enjoying immense popularity, particularly on dancefloors around the globe. Her music was dominating the dance charts and, by now, she was the undisputed Queen of Disco. Earlier that year, her worldwide hit "I Feel Love" changed music forever. Months later, Summer released a double album entitled 'Once Upon A Time'. This was an ambitious disc, which again found the singer exploring variations on the disco sound. The lead single from that LP was the exalted track "I Love You".
The love song was co-written by Summer with her 2 producers on the album: Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. Together, they created the songs that made up the concept album, dealing with a Cinderella-like tale. "I Love You" appears towards the end of side 4, where the protagonist finds love.
The single proved especially popular in Britain, where it peaked at #10. It also made the Dutch and Norwegian Top 10. While it only reached the lower rungs of the American Top 40, the cuts from the LP climbed to the top of the Disco Chart.
This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
Each weekday, a new song from the remaining Top 100 is added, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000. Check back here  for an update of the 2000.
