OF THIS CENTURY
Now that we are 15 years into the 21st Century, it’s apropos to look back over the 200 songs since 2000 that have made the greatest impact on the sound of music as it stands in 2015.
To be eligible for the Top 200, a song must have officially appeared on an album, CD single  or as a download between Jan. 1, 2000 and December 31, 2014.
160 LOVE GENERATION
BOB SINCLAR featuring GARY PINE [2005]
 
France remains an epicentre of dance music and 1 of its leading figures is Bob Sinclar. His house hit "Love Generation" infused the joy of European attitude to the genre. It was a massive hit in that continent and in Australia.
159 AFTER ALL THESE YEARS
SILVERCHAIR [2002]
 
Daniel Johns, at the helm of Silverchair, distanced the group's sound from the grunge of its debut album. Back then, Silverchair was seen as a naive lite- Nirvana. For 'Diorama', the band's 4th release, David Bottrill co-produced with the lead singer. The new sound featured arrangements from the legendary Van Dyke Parks. "After All These Years" found Silverchair with a matured and artistic musical approach that is all its own.

B.O.B featuring Hayley Williams [2010]
 
B.O.B cleverly mixed styles of music together to create "Airplanes", which featured guest vocals from Paramore's Hayley Williams.

JAMES BLUNT [2005]
The song became a casualty of radio saturation, but remains 1 of the best love songs of the millennium.

BLU CANTRELL [2001]
 
Blu Cantrell packed a punch on this empowering song about getting even. The R&B production was fresh and came courtesy of its writer and producer Dallas Austin.

JOHN LEGEND [2013]
This love song oozes sincerity, humility and love without ever becoming cheesy. With "All Of Me", John Legend established himself as 1 of the foremost vocalists; joining the likes of Alicia Keys and Beyonce in the R&B pantheon of today's crop.

KATY PERRY [2008]
Katy Perry's 1st global smash began a string of chart hits that continues to this day.

U2 [2004]
 
Decades of rock music combust as the proficient band delivered 1 of its strongest tracks in years with "Vertigo".
152 BULLETPROOF
LA ROUX [2009]
La Roux crafted a synth-pop hit that gave that sub-genre a makeover for the 21st century via "Bulletproof". It retains its energy to this day.
151 THIS LOVE
MAROON 5 [2002]
 
"This Love" was an album track when it was first heard in 2002. Released as a single 2 years later, it helped propel Maroon 5 and the 'Songs About Jane' album to major success. The band continues to score chart success. Lead singer Adam Levine is a celebrity due to his role as a judge on the US version of "The Voice".
