The definitive list of 200 songs from the movies, recorded by by rock & pop acts since the start of the Rock Era in 1955.
To be eligible, the songs need to have been first heard in association with a film from the last 60 years (although some exceptions do exist where the song gained a higher profile after its use in a motion picture)- so no songs from “West Side Story”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Les Miserables” or “The Sound Of Music” and other films that first started out as stage musicals.

 The Cure performed the fantasy action film's main theme "Burn". Brandon Lee portrayed comic book character young musician Eric Draven.

I WANT TO SPEND MY LIFETIME LOVING YOU

(‘The Mask Of Zorro’- 1998)
 A dimly-lit figure sporting a rapier, a black costume with a flowing Spanish cape, a flat-brimmed black gaucho hat, and a black cowl sackcloth mask that covers the top of the head from eye level stands with the film's title: THE MASK OF ZORRO in white font. He is silhouetted against a red hue fading to black at the top with the star billing of ANTONIO BANDERAS and ANTHONY HOPKINS.
 Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones sizzled on the screen in the 1998 version of the Zorro story. The duet "I Want To Spend My Lifetime Loving You" teamed up the Australian vocalist Tina Arena with Latino singer Marc Anthony. Jim Steinman's production makes the song sound epic.

 Carly Simon wrote and performed the song "Coming Around Again" for the romantic comedy 'Heartburn'; with a screenplay by Nora Ephron. Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson would co-star again the following year in 'Ironweed'.

The film 'Above The Rim' revolves around basketball. Its cast included Tupac Shakur. "Regulate" sampled Michael McDonald's 1982 hit "I Keep Forgettin'".

Whitney Houston

 Whitney Houston sang the R&B ballad "I Have Nothing" for 'The Bodyguard soundtrack'. The romantic thriller was her debut film role. David Foster produced and co-wrote the track.

Madonna

 Madonna was married to Sean Penn at the time and offered this delicate ballad for his crime drama 'At Close Range'. She co-wrote and co-produced "Live To Tell".

Annie Lennox
(‘Bram Stoker's Dracula’- 1992)

Annie Lennox wrote the glorious "Love Song For A Vampire" for Francis Ford Coppola's film adaptation of the Dracula legend. Gary Oldman portrayed the title character.

Prince & The Revolution

 The 'Purple Rain' soundtrack album cemented Prince's postion in the pop music pantheon. "Take Me With U" features Apollonia Kotero sharing vocals with her co-star.

Neil Young

 The title song from the Tom Hanks dramatic film was overshadowed by Bruce Springsteen's hit single from the same soundtrack. Neil Young's vocal captures the grief and mood of the touching motion picture.

ON THE RADIO
Donna Summer
(‘Foxes’- 1980)
 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Foxes.jpg
 The film may be long forgotten, but its soundtrack contained the Top 5 disco hit "On The Radio", performed and co-written by Donna Summer with her producer Giorgio Moroder.
