These songs are well known but you may not know about the
earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.
Spooky
"Spooky" has been covered by a wide range of artists. Dusty Springfield delivered the coolest interpretation. Hers was issued in 1970.
Nine years later, The Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) released a new remake. It peaked at #17 in America.
The original hit version was recorded by Classics IV, an American band that released "Spooky" in 1967. While ARS' version is arguably the best known, the Classics IV interpretation remains the most successful, climbing to #3 in the U.S.A.
