CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#459 HEAT WAVE Martha & The Vandellas
"Heat Wave" is 1of the instantly recognizable Motown songs that embodied that "sound of Young America". The catchy tune came from the label's trio of Lamont Dozier and brothers Eddie and Brian Holland. The single reached #4 Pop and 1 R&B in the US in 1963 and became 1 of the girl group's earliest hits.
By 1967, they were billed as Martha Reeves and The Vandellas. That same year saw the exodus of the H-D-H songwriting team from Motown. Their last hits for the group were "Jimmy Mack" and "Honey Chile". All of their subsequent releases failed to dent the US Top 40. The group broke up in 1972 and Reeves pursued a solo career. In 1989, Reeves and former Vandellas Rosalind Ashford and Annette Beard succeeded with their lawsuit against Motown for back royalties. Reeves still tours to this day.
This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
