CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#131 LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY Donna Summer
Donna Summer's international breakthrough hit was the groundbreaking "Love To Love You Baby". She had met producer Giorgio Moroder while based in Germany. Summer presented him with some of her own songs. Among them was "Love To Love You Baby". Pete Bellotte and Moroder contributed to the song's creation.
Disco had just started gaining an energetic momentum. The song was recorded at Musicland in Munich, Germany. Summer's pioneering track was pitched to Casablanca Records. Label president Neil Bogart played the disc for friends who loved the song so much, they requested a lengthier version. An extended version- running for just under 17 minutes- was constructed and thus spawned the 12" disco remix trend. Bellotte produced the recording.
The watershed disco classic was unleashed in 1975. It was the title track of an album on which the full length of "Love To Love..." occupied all of side one. In the US, the edited single version charted high on 3 charts; reaching #1 Disco, #2 Pop and 3 R&B. Along with making #1 in Canada, the disc was a Top 10 hit in Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The single attracted controversy due to Summer's suggestive moaning and groaning, simulating an orgasm, heard throughout the track.
Summer's next releases were largely restricted to the US Disco chart, including the #1s"Try Me, I Know We Can Make It" and 'Four Seasons Of Love' (all cuts) in 1976; and 'I Remember Yesterday' (all cuts) the following year. Other hits followed. More of these will be discussed further up this Top 2000.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
