CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#139 ROCK WITH YOU Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson approached Quincy Jones to produce his landmark album 'Off The Wall'. The renowned producer contacted various writers for possible songs to include among new material contributed by the artist. Rod Temperton was 1 of the composers Jones contacted. The 2 had worked together before. Temperton had written some big hits for his R&B group Heatwave, including "Boogie Nights". Jones assembled session musicians and recorded the music for the songs Temperton offered. Among them was "Rock With You".
Jackson, who had been on the Destiny tour with his brothers, loved what he heard. He thought "Rock With You" was precisely the type of track he needed for his next album release. Jones produced the cut.
'Off the Wall' was unleashed in 1979. "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" was its lead single and became a worldwide smash. "Rock With You" was its follow-up. The single reached #1 on both the Pop and R&B charts in America in early 1980. It also made the summit on the Spanish Top 40. The disc peaked in the Top 10 in the UK, Australia, Italy, Canada and New Zealand.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
