At Last - Etta James.jpgToday, the Etta James version of the blues song "I Just Want To Make Love To You" is the most celebrated. The legendary female vocalist recorded her interpretation for her 1960 album 'At Last'. In 1996, the James version was featured in a Diet Coke TV ad which led to the song being re-released in Britain. The disc reached #5 on the UK chart.
Willie Dixon penned the song and it was offered to Muddy Waters, his labelmate on Chess Records. The original version of the track climbed to #4 on the US R&B Chart in 1954. Dixon himself played bass on this version. Waters went on to re-record the song twice during the 1960s. The track was also recorded by him under the name "Just Make Love To Me".
