THE 50 MOST ESSENTIAL MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS. Today: #19. More: tomorrow.

Caffè Lattè presents:

THE MOST ESSENTIAL

MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS

For decades, songs and movies have been matched. The most successful are effective tools, cross-promoting both the music and the film in which they are featured; giving one or both longevity. Here are 50 Motion Picture Soundtrack Albums that evoke memories of the films they appeared in. The criteria was to include only movie soundtracks which consisted largely of new material, rather than a compilation of older songs or remakes.

FOOTLOOSE

1984

No less than 7 singles were lifted off the ‘Footloose’ soundtrack. The film starred Kevin Bacon portraying a new arrival in a small town where dancing is prohibited. Among the soundtrack LP’s biggest hits are the 2 #1 singles “Let’s Hear It For The Boy” (Deniece Williams) and the title track by Kenny Loggins. The album also featured songs by Bonnie Tyler, Mike Reno & Ann Wilson (from the groups Loverboy and Heart respectively), Shalamar and Moving Pictures.
