The first repetition was accidental. Andrew then wrote “go” twice deliberately. George used the note to create “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”. Wham! had been gradually building momentum, but this new song surpassed its predecessors. “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” became the first chart topper for the duo on both the US and British charts.
