CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS
THE TOP 100
#87 HEAD OVER HEELS
ABBA
(1981)
Writers: Bjorn Ulvaeus & Benny Andersson
ABBA's final studio album 'The Visitors' was unleashed in 1981. The track "Head Over Heels" was lifted as a single the following year. Beginning with the working title "Tango", it evolved into a jocular song dealing with a woman shopping and partying in spite of her husband's annoyance.
The track, produced by the group's 2 male members, was 1 of ABBA's 1st to be cut on the new digital recorders at the Polar Music studios in Sweden. Agnetha Faltskog's lead vocal adds depth to the lyrics.
Sadly, the group's popularity was in decline by the time the single was released. While it did reach the Top 10 in some European countries, it only managed a #25 peak in Britain. "Head Over Heels" was to be 1 of the last songs issued by ABBA.
This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the remaining Top 100 is added each weekday, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
