Holland / Dozier/ Holland created another chart hit for Motown and girl group Martha & The Vandellas when "Nowhere To Run", released in 1965, reached the Top 10 on both the Pop and R&B charts.

BEING WITH YOU
Smokey Robinson
England had the Bard and Detroit had Smokey Robinson. His lyrics have been charting ever since the 1960s. "Being With You" was a self-penned solo hit for the singer / songwriter in 1981. In the USA, the single peaked at #1 R&B, 2 Pop and 4 AC. The disc also topped the British chart.

Jr. Walker & The All Stars
Junior Walker's sax skills give "Shotgun" a blast of energy. The single topped the R&B chart and reached #4 Pop in 1965.

The Isley Brothers
The Isley Brothers' time at Motown was not as lucrative as the vocal group had experienced prior to their signing with the label. They would achieve greater success after leaving Motown. "This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You)" was a hit for The Isleys while still with the label, reaching #12 Pop and 6 R&B in 1966. It was another Motown hit composed by the Holland / Dozier / Holland team.

I WISH IT WOULD RAIN
The Temptations
"I Wish It Would Rain" features an impassioned lead vocal from David Ruffin. With the other Temptations, the 1967 single reached #4 R&B and #1 Pop in America. Norman Whitfield, produced and co-wrote the song.

LOVE HANGOVER
Diana Ross
Motown finally began pitching music to disco fans in 1976. "Love Hangover" was one of Motown's early forays into that genre. Ross needed help to get into the right mindset to record the song. With the right lighting, Ross began to cut the track barefoot. The single flew to #1  Pop and R&B in 1976-7.

LOVE MACHINE (Pt. 1)
The Miracles
After lead singer and main songwriter of The Miracles Smokey Robinson quit to pursue solo success, the group enjoyed a final major hit with "Love Machine". In 1975, the funky single peaked at #1 in the US and 3 in Britain. It features Smokey Robinson's replacement in the group, Billy Griffin, on lead vocals.

Boyz II Men
Babyface penned and produced "Water Runs Dry" for Boyz II Men. The group climbed to #2 Pop in 1995 with this disc.

Jackson 5
"The Love You Save" became the 3rd consecutive US #1 single for the Jackson brothers in 1970. It also reached the top on the equivalent R&B list. In Britain, the catchy disc climbed to #7.

  AIN'T NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
In 1968, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell released 1 of their many duets. "Ain't Nothing Like The real Thing" was written and produced by Nickolas Ashford with his wife Valerie Simpson. The US Top 10 hit topped the R&B chart.
