Piece Of My Heart
Ever since Janis Joplin applied her bluesy vocal to "Piece Of My Heart", it has been the definitive reading of the song. In 1968, she recorded the track as a member of Big Brother & The Holding Company for the group's 'Cheap Thrills' album. The single climbed to #12 in America.
The original version by soul singer Erma Franklin was released a year prior. On the Soul Chart, the disc peaked at #10. The singer was Aretha Franklin's sister. There have been several remakes ever since.
