Trivia:
"Jump" had been sitting in Eddle Van Halen's batch of song ideas for around 5 years. Lead singer David Lee Roth had suggested the group's renowned axe man focus on his guitar-playing rather than the synthesizer / keyboards. While Van Halen was recording the '1984' album, the guitarist offered "Jump" which, once released as the LP's lead single, became the group's biggest hit.
