Since the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest, 51 countries have competed in the annual event. This look back features each country in order of appearance and highlights that nation’s best entry so far.

1958

A Dutch win in 1957 resulted in the 3^rd ESC being held in The Netherlands. Thus, a tradition began: whereby the winning nation had the option of hosting the following year’s Contest. A Eurovision powerhouse joined the family in 1958: Sweden. ABBA, the most famous winning act from the ESC, claimed the first Swedish victory in 1974.
