A GUIDE TO THE ESC - Languages. More tomorrow.

Everything You Need To Know About:

EUROVISION

2021

It’s 2021 and… Eurovision is back! The COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the 2020 Contest.

Europe’s favourite annual music event is set to start on May 18. Here’s a guide to how the Eurovision Song Contest works.

Languages

Countries are free to perform a song in any language. While the vast majority of this year’s entries will be sung in English, some of the strong favourites will be performed in other languages. This includes French (France; Switzerland) and Italian (Italy). The Semi-Finals will feature songs sung in: Russian, Croatian, Ukrainian, Serbian, Albanian and Danish. Spain has pre-qualified for the Grand Final and will be represented by an entry in Spanish. The host nation’s song, also performed on the big night, will feature Sranan Tongo lyrics.
