Since the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest, 51 countries have competed in the annual event. This look back features each country in order of appearance and highlights that nation’s best entry so far.

1998

The most recent Eurovision Song Contest held in the United Kingdom was back in 1998. Brighton was the host city following the UK’s victory in the previous year with “Love Shine A Light” by Katrina & The Waves. In 1998, Dana International triumphed with the Israeli entry "Diva".

Only one new country joined the family that year. It had formerly been part of Yugoslavia. This competing nation has participated under different names: Macedonia, FYR Macedonia and currently is referred to as North Macedonia.
