He met and befriended Andrew Ridgeley while in high school. The two teens were determined to realize their musical ambitions. The two became a duo named Wham! in 1981. In 1986. George began to focus on the next phase of his career: as a soloist. He scored global smash hits duetting with Aretha Franklin and Elton John. Debut solo album ‘Faith’, issued in 1987, spawned no less than 4 US #1 singles. Next was ‘Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1’ dropped in 1990 and a UK No. 1; followed by the chart-topping ‘Older’ in 1996 from which 2 #1 singles were lifted and cover album ‘Songs From The Last Century’ 3 years later.
