As the world’s elite athletes compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Caffè Lattè will focus on the best music that emerged during each Olympiad. Each period considers songs from the years prior to the new Games.
MUSIC ACROSS THE OLYMPIADS
The only Olympics held with no public spectators was in in 2021. Tokyo was scheduled to host The Games in 2020, but the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For health precautions, these Olympics were very different when finally athletes competed in Japan the following year. These were the second Olympics held in Japan as Tokyo had hosted back in 1964.
Among the hottest chart acts in this Olympiad were: The Weeknd, Drake, Billie Eilish and Ed Sheeran.
