Bonnie Raitt started playing guitar at age 12. It took her 10 albums to finally enjoy a major hit. Since the release of her debut LP in 1971, Raitt has remained a critcal success. Commercial appeal and big sales did finally come her way with the 1989 album 'Nick of Time'. She collected 4 Grammy Awards in 1990 for her effort, including Album of the Year. Follow-up LP 'Luck of the Draw' was issued in 1991. One of its tracks is the well crafted ballad "I Can't Make You Love Me". Written by country songwriters Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin, it has been covered by the likes of George Michael, Boyz II Men and Ester Dean. Raitt's version reached #18 in the US.
