1981 saw Stevie Nicks release her first solo album, while on hiatus from Fleetwood Mac. 'Bella Donna' was the result and an impressive collection of songs with which to launch her new venture. The first single lifted off this LP was "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around". Tom Petty wrote the song with Mike Campbell, a member of his backing band The Heartbreakers. The group joined Nicks on the track. Petty produced it with Jimmy Iovine. The single was a smash hit, peaking at #3 in America, #5 in Canada and #10 in Australia. Nicks followed the single with more hits, including "Edge of Seventeen", "Stand Back", "Talk to Me" and "I Can't Wait". Along with solo recordings, she remains a member of Fleetwood Mac.
