#762 FROM NEW YORK TO L.A. Patsy Gallant
Patsy Gallant was born in New Brunswick, Canada in 1950. Initially, she performed with her sisters, but launched a solo career in 1967. She recorded in both English and French, making her chart debut in 1972. Outside of Canada, she is remembered as a one-hit wonder. That sole chart success was her disco-flavoured single "From New York to L.A.". The hit was written by Gene Williams and Gilles Vigneault. In 1977, the disc reached the Top 10 not only in her homeland, but also the UK and Australia. Despite the song dealing with being famous on both sides of the USA, the single flopped in America. A later notable chart hit in Canada is "Sugar Daddy" which saw her emerge victorious at the 1978 Juno Awards.
