In 1983, Francis Ford Coppola's movie adaptation of a novel by S.E. Hinton entitled 'The Outsiders' was released. The film is best remembered for its cast of rising stars, including Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez, C. Thomas Howell and Ralph Macchio. Coppola's father Carmine scored the film and co-wrote the main theme with Stevie Wonder. The latter performed the song for the film's soundtrack.
