Lois Blaisch penned "Could've Been" after having her heart broken by a man. She was performing the song at a venue in California when producer George Tobin heard her. The ballad wound up being recorded by teen pop star Tiffany who had just reached #1 on both sides of the Atlantic with her breakthrough single, a remake of "I Think We're Alone Now".
